LARA DALE | FOLEY ARTIST | TRIPLETONE STUDIOS
Lara Dale was born in Santa Fe and raised in Corrales and Albuquerque. She trained from early childhood in classical music, as well as theater and ballet. While attending UNM she fell in love with choreography before moving to NYC to pursue a career as a dancer and choreographer.
A serious dance injury changed her life completely and sent her on a very different path. She worked as an assistant to the late Howard Guttenplan at Millennium Film Workshop back in the days of Super 8 and 16MM and saw early screenings of Susan Seidelman’s “Desperately Seeking Susan,” Spike Lee’s “She’s Gotta Have It,” and Jim Jarmusch’s “Stranger Than Paradise.” She was tremendously inspired by their hard work, innovation, and mainstream success.
She eventually moved back to New Mexico, and in 2010 apprenticed at newly opened Wildfire Studios with Emmy Award winning Foley Artist Ellen Heuer. Her dance and music background provided the perfect foundation for mastering the complex and demanding art of Foley, and in 2013 she launched FootVox Studio.
Though Lara has an extensive resume of feature film credits, her heart has always been drawn towards visionary independent filmmakers. She was honored to work with transgender Navajo homegirl Sydney Freeland on “Drunktown’s Finest,” as well as Las Cruces homeboy Keagan Karnes’ recent feature “Love on Tap.”
Lara is resident Foley Artist at Tripletone Studios in Downtown Albuquerque, in partnership with brilliant owner, sound engineer and mixer Jason Wolf. Nothing makes her happier than elevating a film from “promising” to “professional” with Hollywood studio quality sound.

The Department of Film & Digital Arts Mentor Series was inaugurated to celebrate thirty (plus!) years of film education at UNM. Each semester we invite a distinguished group of alumni and film luminaries to talk to our students and the community about how they found success doing what they love. If you want to work in the digital media fields, this series is a fabulous source of advice and useable strategies. All events are free and open to the public.
