UNM film students showcase their final films at Capstone Premiere

Join Senior students of University of New Mexico Film and Digital Arts for the grand debut of their Capstone Premiere this upcoming Friday, May 10 and Saturday, May 11, from 7 to 10 p.m. at Rodey Theater in Popejoy Hall. The Capstone Premiere will showcase final films from undergraduate students enrolled in UNM’s Bachelor of Fine Arts program. 

The UNM Capstone program includes student artists from a range of concentrations including Film Production, Gaming, Animation, and Film History or Criticism. This diversity provides ample opportunity for cross-disciplinary collaboration and fosters an open-minded approach to completing their Capstone finals.

For UNM undergraduates in a BFA program, the dual-semester UNM Capstone course signals the final stretch of their college experience. Earlier courses in FDMA are designed to prepare BFA majors for more advanced film or animation productions, such as this.

By their senior year at UNM, BFA students have acquired the skill sets required for their respective focus and have put that experience to the test through their Capstone projects. Each student in the program has devoted two semesters to pitching, writing, planning, producing, and premiering their final films and animations with like-minded individuals in their graduating class. They eagerly anticipate showcasing their production teams’ hard work at the Capstone premiere each year.

These showings will be exclusive to those attending the premiere and will not be available to the public online. The event is free admission and black tie is optional. There will be a Red Carpet event at 7 p.m., with viewings beginning at 7:30 p.m. Seating is first-come, first-serve, so Capstone students advise those interested in viewing to arrive at Rodey early.
