Film & Digital Arts Equipment Cage

The Film & Digital Arts Equipment Cage provides students and faculty with access to professional-grade cameras, sound, lighting, grip, post-production tools, A/V equipment, and high-end editing suites to support creative coursework, research, and productions.

Our resources support filmmakers, animators, and game developers alike. We provide an array of equipment from production cameras, lighting kits, and sound mixers to Wacom tablets, gaming peripherals and display equipment. We provide the necessary tools for students and faculty to bring their creative work to life across all areas of the program.

Equipment and editing rooms are available only to eligible Film & Digital Arts students and department faculty. All reservations are completed through Cheqroom.com.

Equipment Access Policy for Students

Equipment is available to students while they are enrolled in an eligible production course. Access does not roll over from previous semesters. A new Equipment Cage Agreement must be completed each semester before making reservations. The agreement will be available on Canvas.

    • Review the equipment available to you (see the Equipment Access by Production Course PDF above or log into Cheqroom.com to view eligible items).
    • Log into Cheqroom.com using your UNM email. (First-semester students will receive an invitation email. Returning students will log in directly; no new invite will be sent).
    • Reserve equipment and select your pickup and return times.
    • Arrive on time with your UNM Student ID.
    • For productions involving stunts, special effects, weapons, or firearms, a Stunts/Weapons Use Request must be completed and approved by the Department of Film & Digital Arts administration before equipment can be reserved.
