Former UNM Students launch streaming platform showcasing local filmmakers

What if a streaming platform worked a little like a dating app — but instead of matching people, it connected audiences and filmmakers?

Three former UNM students have launched Phintch, a free platform dedicated to independent films made by New Mexicans or filmed in the state. With more than 20 films already featured, the app aims to give local projects a longer life beyond the festival circuit — while helping filmmakers find audiences, collaborators and support.

In a challenging moment for New Mexico’s film industry, Phintch’s founders see independent storytelling as an opportunity to build something lasting — and bring the state’s filmmaking community closer together.
