The Department of Film & Digital Arts Mentor Series was inaugurated to celebrate thirty (plus!) years of film education at UNM. Each semester we invite a distinguished group of alumni and film luminaries to talk to our students and the community about how they found success doing what they love. If you want to work in the digital media fields, this series is a fabulous source of advice and useable strategies. All events are free and open to the public.
Film & Digital Arts Senior Capstone Premiere
The Department of Film & Digital Arts capstone students will premiere their short films, animations, and games this Saturday, May 17, 2025.
Film & Digital Arts alumni nominated for a Sports Emmy
Film & Digital Arts alumnus Fritz Bitsoie—a father, husband, Diné/Navajo filmmaker, and cultural storyteller—is now an Emmy-nominated director. His documentary Through The Storm captures the 2023 Red Lake Nation (Ojibwe) high school football season, chronicling a team's fight to revive its legacy amid a decades-long losing streak. More than a sports story, the film explores personal struggles, resilience, and how football becomes a symbol of hope and unity for the Red Lake community.
