Support our Faculty and Student Crowdfunding Campaigns
The Department of Film & Digital Arts, the fastest growing department at UNM, announces award-winning indie filmmaker, educator, and faculty member Jaymes Thompson is launching a fundraising campaign for his upcoming feature film, The Ultimate Male. The movie, an LGBTQ-friendly ensemble and comedy-drama set in 1986, will be shot entirely in New Mexico and highlights the themes of representation and inclusion.
“The Ultimate Male” is a nostalgic yet fresh take on the 1980s American culture, following the story of Billy McCain, an innocent young man from Maple Grove, Minnesota, as he competes in the first-ever televised national beauty pageant for men. The film will serve as a hands-on learning experience for students, who can earn course credit through an Independent Production Project course. Students will work alongside professionals in various fields like cinematography, production design, casting, and post-production, giving them real-world experience to help launch their careers in the film industry.
