Dr. Angela Beauchamp (she/her) is our Department Administrator and Special Assistant to the Chair. A feminist film and television historian, she teaches one course each semester, including History of Film I and II, Film Noir, Queer Cinema History, Images of Womxn, and Beyond Hollywood. She received the 2022 UNM Gerald W. May Outstanding Staff Award, a 2021 Digital Literacy Innovation Award, second place in the 2020 Affiliated Faculty of the Year Awards, and a 2020 Feminist Research Institute Faculty Research Grant. Her book Eleanor Roosevelt on Screen: The First Lady’s Appearances in Film and Television, 1932–1962 was published by McFarland in fall 2023. A first generation college graduate, she holds a PhD in Film and Television Studies from the University of East Anglia (UK), an MA in Film Theory and Gender Studies from Skidmore College (NY), a BA in Anthropology from DePauw University (IN), and studied abroad at Cuttington University in Liberia, West Africa.

Angie is an elected representative on the UNM Staff Council, where she chairs the Staff Council Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. She is also a member of the university Faculty and Staff Benefits Committee and the VEBA Committee, as well as an officer of UNM’s chapter of the Phi Beta Kappa academic honor society.
