Film Future for film students Taking Shape at the Railyards
Construction is progressing to transform part of the historic Albuquerque Rail Yards into a world-class film production training center.
Professional screenwriter, producer, and Emmy-nominated lyricist Meghan McCarthy (Hasbro’s My Little Pony, Netflix’s Centaurworld, Disney’s Fish Hooks) joins us for a virtual talk on Thursday April 17 at 5:30pm via Zoom as part of our Mentor Series.

Meghan McCarthy is a writer, producer, and Emmy-nominated lyricist known for her work on numerous animated series and franchises, including Cartoon Network’s Class of 3000, Disney’s Fish Hooks, Hasbro’s My Little Pony and My Little Pony: Equestria Girls franchises, and Netflix’s Centaurworld. She co-scripted and co-wrote a song for the feature film My Little Pony: The Movie and was an Executive Producer on both My Little Pony: The Movie and My Little Pony: A New Generation. She most recently developed Be@rbrick for DreamWorks and Apple TV+ and served as the series’ Executive Producer, showrunner, and lyricist, working with Executive Music Producer Timbaland to craft the show’s soundtrack.
Beyond writing, McCarthy served as the SVP of Allspark Animation, where she played a role in the development and production of films, series, and web content based on Hasbro properties, including Littlest Pet Shop, Hanazuki, and Transformers Rescue Bots.
She resides in Los Angeles with her husband, two teenagers, and three dogs. One of the dogs is probably sitting in her lap right now.
